The title Stone Flower refers to one of Stalin’s post-war skyscrapers - The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. The Palace, presented by the Soviet people to Polish nation in 1952, has become a powerful symbol of the communist order and Soviet takeover in the Polish collective and individual memory, and since it has stood for the the physical aspect of Stalin’s ideology, power and actual violence.
